Diablo 4: Helltide Events – Location & Rewards
Helltides are an end game activity in Diablo 4 and will only occur on World Tier 3 difficulty, otherwise known as Nightmare difficulty. These events will pop up randomly and cover a particular region of the Diablo 4 map in red, as you can see here:
The marked region will be overrun by more dangerous enemies and thus pose a bigger threat than other regions. Each Helltide will last for one hour and you can check the remaining time on the map.
As you might have guessed, the higher risk comes with a big reward.
What Rewards You Are Getting For Helltides
All enemies in the Helltide region have a chance to drop Aberrant Cinders, a special type of currency that can be exchanged for loot. To do so, you have to find Tortured Gifts, special chests that will spawn in the Helltide region. At these chests, you can exchange your Aberrant Cinders for slot-specific loot.

Yes, you heard that right, you can choose what type of gear you want to get, whether it's a new weapon, chest armor or ring. Depending on what slot you pick, it will cost you more or fewer Cinders.
The Tortured Gift chests also have a high chance of dropping legendary or even sacred and ancestral loot, so Helltides are the perfect way to farm for specific items to round out your build.
Oh, you can also find the Fiend Rose crafting material in Helltide regions. And that's it. Make sure to set your difficulty to World Tier 3 and keep an eye on the map. Helltide events in Diablo 4 are well worth your time.
