According to an insider, EA is working on a new Marvel game. What Marvel game could it be, though?
Everyone wants to join the Marvel hype train. Funny how people thought it would die down after Avengers: Endgame. Then Spider-Man: No Way Home broke all the records, and it doesn't look like that will stop anytime soon.
If you thought it would end there, think again. Marvel's Midnight Sun's is also scheduled to release this year and is bringing Marvel to our consoles and PCs once more. Will it end after that? Nope, because we just can't get enough.
A new Marvel game is apparently in development, by none other than EA themselves.
Is EA Working On A New Marvel Game?
According to Nick Baker (you might know him as Shpeshal Nick from his Xbox Era podcast), EA is indeed working on a new Marvel game.
[...] which IP within Marvel [the game] would be about, and I can’t even give clues, I’m bad at giving clues without giving stuff away. The problem is, people know me too well, so if I say certain things, people will go, ‘oh that’s Nick which means he’s talking about this’. So, I can’t say. All he told me I’m allowed to say is that there’s a rumor going around that EA is working on a Marvel title.
So, there you go. Apparently, a game is coming, but which one?
Here's the thing. You all know that I'm in the EA scene because of BioWare. So let me give you my two cents.
I could see an Iron Man game in Anthem style. That game is literally the perfect blueprint for it (but the rest, they need to overhaul massively, of course). Maybe we could go into a Guardian's of the Galaxy Mass Effect-y world? Or, if they want to truly be original, they could just take a comic and then build their world around that.
They did this before, in 2005, when they released Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects. That was based on the Marvel Nemesis comic series.
Whatever hero and premises it will have, we're still talking about EA here. It's all about that cash. So let's hope it's not a game full of microtransactions.
