The Esports Olympics Games have been revealed. This innovative form of competition is a breakthrough in the world of esports and gaming.
It took many years for the society to realize that esports is as much a form of competitive sport as any others. Skills, training, discipline and cooperation with other players are also needed here. Now, to confirm that esports deserves its sporting designation, the Olympic Committee has issued a very interesting decision.
An Official Gaming Olympics?
In cooperation with international federations (IFs) and game publishers, the Olympic Esports Series (OES) is a global competition created by the IOC using virtual and simulated sports. Professional and amateur players from around the world are invited to participate in qualifying rounds on March 1. That means even you can take part!
Olympic Esports Week 2023 - What Games Will Take Part?
These are the games that are supposed to represent specific sports:
- Archery - Tic Tac Bow
- Baseball - WBSC eBASEBALL™: POWER PROS)
- Chess - Chess.com
- Cycling - Zwift
- Dance - Just Dance
- Motor sport - Gran Tourismo
- Sailing - Virtual Regatta
- Tennis - Tennis Clash
- Taekwondo - Virtual Taekwondo
The event will culminate in live and in-person finals during the first-ever Olympic Esports Week on June 23-25, 2023 in Singapore.
