With only one tweet about Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, God of War creator David Jaffe caused an outcry on Twitter, stating that people have a double standard for games depending on the platform they're released on. Jaffe even doubled down afterward, stoking the flames again.
God of War is beyond doubt a big player when it comes to AAA games. The creator of the Kratos saga has made himself a name with the first God of War title, a long time ago on the PlayStation 2. Even though David Jaffe left video game development, he never quit playing and as most of us these days he's playing Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on his Switch. However, his opinion on this differs from that of the masses.
Jaffe states, and on that, I guess, we all can agree, that "a great game is a great game", outside of the technical level and production values. The but-part of his tweet criticizes the graphics of the game, and he's wondering why no one ever mentions that in the overwhelmingly positive reviews. Although he states, he's enjoying the game so far.
I don't give a fuck about amazing production value+visuals. A great game is a great game. Just starting and so far, so good. In a following tweet, he adds that for him, gameplay is the most important part, not realism or graphics. However, the God of War developer also mentions that graphics are often a major point of criticism in reviews and ratings of games, which isn't really the case with Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. And he has a strong opinion on the graphics of TotK: "bland and old looking".

Obviously it is his opinion and Jaffe makes that clear. He notes that it seems to him to be an issue worth mentioning, since while many people always focus on outstanding graphics, they seem to be able to ignore that depending on the game.
Jaffe caused a heated debate on Twitter, the fires of which he stoked again with a follow-up tweet. He used an AI on an image from Zelda, stating that "someone should send this to the folks at Nintendo and show them how to do the art next time."
