It seems that playing GTA 5 story mode can currently lead to getting banned in GTA Online and Red Dead Online. Read on to find out why.
This is an odd one, and certainly not one Rockstar wants to persist for any significant length of time: Rockstar Intel reports that, currently, playing GTA 5's story mode can lead you to getting banned in GTA Online and Read Dead Online. Sounds random? Is random. Here is why this is happening:
The issue comes up when you launch GTA Online from within GTA 5's story mode. Why this is happening is unclear, but it is clear that it's happening on the PS5, the Xbox Series X, and the Xbox Series S. As a simple fix, try not to launch GTA Online from within the single player, but rather launch GTA Online from the main menu only.

The rate at which this is happening is not yet determined, nor is the real reason these fals bans are being handed out. To make things worse, these bans extend to Red Dead Online, even though you might have never touched Red Dead Redemption 2 - it's all somehow connected to the IP address. Rockstar has not addressed any of these issues yet, but it is clear that this is an issue they will want to fix as soon as possible, considering how much cash GTA Online is making them.
Oddly enough, this is not the only issue Rockstar's online services are currently facing, as Red Dead Online is also being overrun by racist hackers. It's unknown whether the two issues are connected, but it's obvious that Rockstar will look after GTA Online first.
