Halo Infinite Season 2 is getting closer, but when can we expect it to grace us with its presence?
Halo Infinite's first season has been a relative success so-far, with great weekly challenges and a pretty solid Battle Pass, despite some progression issues early on. Now, whilst most future Halo Infinite Seasons will run for a period of about three months, it was announced early on that the game's second season would not reach us until much later. Thus, we are here to take a look at what we know about Season 2, and its potential release date.
Many are questioning whether 343 Industries' decision to take Halo Infinite in a free-to-play direction was the right once, but no matter your opinion on the matter, it has certainly added a level of keenness for additional seasons of content. Whilst the weekly challenge system does add an incentive to continue playing the game's multiplayer, only new Seasons and Events will sustain a long-term audience. Thus, hunger for information about Halo Infinite's second season is rampant, and fans won't be happy with what we have to give them.
Now, remember that we have established that Halo Infinite's second – so Season 2 – Battle Pass will let you earn credits in Multiplayer. So we have that little bit of information, but what else do we know? Well, a little bit, but not much to be honest. 343 Industries have been tight-lipped on what we can expect. In fact, it is unclear whether we can expect much story content or gameplay content from future seasons at all. It would be smart for major changes to come to the game season-in and season-out, but we just simply don't know at this point.
When is the Halo Infinite Season 2 Release Date?
Whilst there is no official release date confirmed by 343 Industries, we expect that Halo Infinite Season 2 will launch at some point in May 2022. When speaking about Halo Infinite's first and second seasons back in November, 343 Industries' creative head, Joseph Staten, acknowledged that Season 2 would take a while. This is what he said in a Halo Waypoint blog post:
We made the decision to extend Season 1 to give ourselves more time to ensure Season 2 meets our high quality bar and so we can finish development for Season 2 in a healthy and sustainable way for our team
The Season 1 Battle Pass, as shown in the game's menu, ends on May 2. Thus, we can expect that the second season will likely launch on or around that date. This might seem like quite a long time away, but it is actually about on-par of what was expected. We generally have expected that Halo Infinite's first season would go for about six months, so double the length of a standard season, and the game launched into its beta in November 2021. The full game then went on to see a full launch, and the official start of Season 1, in early December.
So it will be a while until Halo Infinite Season 2 graces us with its presence, especially with major instalments like the Cyber Showdown Event and the Tenrai Event adding extra value to the Season 1 Battle Pass. Realistically, we will see some movement in that May 2nd release date, but we cannot guarantee how much that date will be shifted. We expect, however, to see a second season at some point in May.
