The biggest comeback of 2023 might be happening soon! After Mineplex abruptly shut down on May 12, 2023 without prior announcement, former players all over the internet came together to mourn the death of what has been the favorite place to play Minecraft minigames for many.

However, former admin Samito brought new hope when he announced that he purchased Mineplex shortly after the shutdown. For the last four months, Samito and his new team have been working to bring Mineplex back to life – and a new announcement suggests that we might be able to get together on their servers soon again!

On September 13, the official Mineplex twitter account shared a teaser to an incoming announcement. While there is no definitive indicator to what is going to be announced, the slogan "From the Ashes" may suggest the return of Mineplex might be closer than we thought...
At the (re-)start, it is looking like the new admins will focus on a Bedrock Edition server. This is probably disappointing news for any players who only play on the Java Edition of Minecraft, but it is a sensible decision to get Mineplex rolling properly again.
When the HiveMC Network shut down their Java server in 2021, it was revealed that it was higher in maintenance cost than their Bedrock server – even though the Bedrock server's concurrent player count was ten times higher than that of the Java server!
While Samito has not locked out the possibility of Mineplex on the Java Edition completely, Java players will have to be patient to see if Mineplex actually returns there – or they can download the Bedrock Edition in their Minecraft launcher instead. Every player who purchased the Java Edition gets a copy of Minecraft Bedrock for free!
