Want to level up quickly in Lords of the Fallen? We've got you covered! Learn how to use the Umbral dimension to boost your character's stats, where to farm Vigor, and why staying near Vestiges is essential.
The new Souls-like Lords of the Fallen has received great reviews upon release, except from some PC players due to technical issues. The game is well-received in the community, luring more people towards CI Games's latest release.
The game is tough as nails though, and if you want to progress you'll need to level up your character frequently. Here's how to do just that, as quickly as possible!
How To Level Up Fast In Lords of the Fallen
In the world of Lords of the Fallen, swiftly boosting your character's stats is essential. Leveling up can greatly enhance your power, but the path to rapid progression can be really hard for new players. To embark on this journey, you must delve into the Umbral dimension. By mastering the Umbral Dread mechanic, you can efficiently boost your character's development.
Entering The Umbral Realm
Changing realms in Lords of the Fallen is pretty easy. Hold down the L2/LT button on your controller, then press the appropriate button (X on Xbox, Square on PS5) to make the transition from the living realm of Axiom to the scary Umbral land. Returning to the living world is as simple as find a little statue with a skull on it, which will let you come back to Axiom.
Farm Vigor in the Umbral Realm
The Umbral dimension is the key to fast leveling. When you venture into this mysterious land, your Umbral Dread starts accumulating. This is indicated by the large eye symbol in the top-right corner of your screen. As Umbral Dread deepens, the creepy eye will become more agitated and small eyes will appear around it. This happens automatically the longer you stay in Umbral.
While this has a bunch of negative effects, like more and tougher enemies spawning, it also has one major advantage: the Vigor multiplier, which starts counting up while you're in Umbral.
As you stay in the Umbral realm, your Undead Dread multiplier grows, tripling your Vigor by the end. However, as this multiplier increases, so does the number of fierce enemies. These challenges culminate in a Grim Reaper-like enemy that's nearly unbeatable due to its high health, damage resistance, and debuffing abilities. When the debuff occurs, indicated by a red eye symbol and a red glow on your character, you can either face the challenging foes for triple XP or retreat to the nearest Vestige to reset the level.
Crucially, staying near a Vestige while grinding ensures you can quickly recover lost Vigor if you happen to meet your demise. This allows you to level up quickly and safely, given the proximity to a checkpoint. The Vestiges of Hannelore or Chabui, both featuring low-level enemies and ample space for dodging, are excellent spots for efficient leveling. And both are among the first areas you find in the game.
Umbral Vigor Multiplier Timeline
- x1.10: Begins upon entering the Umbral realm
- x1.20: Around four minutes and 45 seconds
- x2.00: Approximately six minutes
- x3.00: At around six and a half minutes
Leveling Up Tips
Here are some general tips to keep in mind while grinding and leveling up in Lords of the Fallen:
- Enemies drop items as you grind, so sell unwanted duplicates to the merchant in Skyrest Bridge for extra Vigor
- Stay close to a Vestige when grinding to avoid losing Vigor
- Even when the Grim Reaper appears, you can continue grinding for a triple XP bonus, provided you defeat nearby enemies quickly
- Equip your best armor and weapons for efficient monster slaying
With these strategies, you can quickly ascend the ranks in Lords of the Fallen and become a major force in this dark and challenging world.
