We hope that you guys still have your old Game Boy Color handhelds somewhere, because out of nowhere, a new game for this device just dropped. So, nearly 25 years after his release, the Game Boy Color gets new content from an unlikely source - McDonald's. The fast food giant, in cooperation with Krool Toys, which developed the game, released Grimace's Birthday.

You don't have an old Game Boy Color anymore? No problem at all, the game is also playable on the games' website. Let's take a look at it. By the way, the ROM File for the Game Boy Color version are downloadable.

McDonald's releases Grimace's Birthday

Most of you will connect McDonald's with the clown Ronald McDonald, the long time advertising face of the fast food franchise. So who is Grimace?

Grimace is a character featured in McDonaldland and one of the best friends of Ronald McDonald. He's a large purple being, who disappeared from ads and other McDonald's related media in 2012. On June the 12th, the figure celebrated his 52nd birthday. But that's enough from the McDonald's lore for now, even though, we have the feeling that this lore might be even deeper than Warhammer 40K's.

The Gameplay

In the game, Grimace is celebrating his birthday with a party at McDonald's- kinda unexpected, huh? Some other well known McDonald's advertising characters like Birdie the Early Bird, the McNugget Buddies and the Hamburglar are invited. And as a good party host, it's Grimace's Job to feed them, and you have to help him.

In four different levels, you have to collect 40 milkshakes with Grimace before the counter runs out. Yeah, the game has a 30-minute counter, because you have to get all the shakes by midnight. In some levels, you have the ability to skateboard with Grimace and even do some tricks like grinding. Tony Hawk would be proud, for sure. But pssst, some grinds are performed automatically, so don't worry if you weren't the best skateboarder.
