The PlayStation 5 could support even older games than we thought! SOon we could be playing our favorite PS3 games on the PS5!
Don't we love backward compatibility for consoles, right? If you buy a new console, you don't want to have to re-buy all your old favorites, or constantly reconnect the old console just to play a game that isn't available on the new one, right? Right.
So, even though backward compatibility works on PC and is a god-send, this hasn't always worked on console... and it especially hasn't worked on games that are older than the previous console you're currently playing on.
Well, if you're a PlayStation gamer, you might be in luck, because there are some hints that in the future you'll be able to play your favorite PS3 games on your PS5, as well as have some of the biggest PlayStation exclusives available on PC!
[Update January 26]
In addition to the PS3 games that briefly appeared in the PS5 store, there is now another hint that the PS5 will soon support PS3 games. Due to a strange glitch in the PlayStation Network, all PlayStation 4 trophies suddenly disappeared for many players and were replaced by PS3 logos:
The glitch caused all PS4 trophies to show as 0% completed and the PS4 logo, which is normally seen next to the trophy, was replaced with a PS3 logo. PS5 games were not affected by this glitch. So with this new "leak" it seems to be almost confirmed that the PS5 will soon support PS3 games.

Will We Get PS3 Games on the PS5?
It sure does seem like some PS3 games will be made available on the PS5. Multiple players have seen PS3 games available in the PS5 store. One of the games was Dead or Alive priced at £7.99, but also Bejewelled Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands and the Two Thrones, were listed with prices in the store.
Uhhh. Not to panic anyone, but a PS3 game shouldn't have a price when viewed on a PS5. Unless... pic.twitter.com/5CTACWGh7s

Of course, this could just be a bug in the PlayStation Store, but it does seem a bit suspicious that these games are appearing in the store right after a Sony patent by the named backward compatibility through the use of spoof clock and fine grain frequency control was found.
Sony really does seem to be working on a system that will let them enable older games to be played on the PS5 as well. Microsoft has been a step ahead, especially with their game pass, which is why it makes sense that Sony will try to catch up. If you can enable PS3 content into a subscription model, well then it's goodnight for Xbox.
The fact that you're all hyped for PS3 content on the PS5 is obvious, but which games do you want to play and have back in your library? Or do you have your PS3 connected all the time anyway and don't care about Next Gen consoles or backward compatibility?
