When you begin playing Starfield, choosing the best traits for your character might seem overwhelming at the beginning, especially because they not only buff, but also debuff your character. This guide should help you pick the best traits in Starfield.
In Starfield, you can choose between a list of almost 20 different character traits at the beginning. Understandably, as a beginner this is overwhelming, so we chose three traits that will help you get into the game in the most efficient way.
Starfield Best Traits – These Are Our Recommendations
Starfield has a list of 17 different character traits- and quirks that come with their own advantages and downsides. For the beginning, it's better to choose a safe-bet option that can be reliable. Here are our picks.
Extrovert
Just like in real life, being an extrovert makes many things in life a lot less hard (sigh). The game describes this trait as follows:
You are a people person. Exerting yourself uses less oxygen when adventuring with human companions, but more when adventuring alone.
The game does establish pretty quickly that it does not believe in things such as "ambiversion", so you unfortunately can't be both an introvert and extrovert.
Even if you are tempted to base your character on yourself as much as possible, then you unfortunately need to resist the urge to choose introvert, since you'll be travelling with companions most of the time.
Got a standard version of Starfield but regret it? You can still upgrade your game to a Premium version for a few bucks here .
Hero Worshipped
Dude, this is THE trait to have, because it will grant you the attention of the one and only Adoring Fan.
You've earned the attention of an annoying "Adoring Fan" who will show up randomly and jabber at you incessantly. On the plus side, he'll join your ship's crew and give you gifts...
If your love language isn't words of affirmation or gift giving, you can just dump him at an outpost or let him scavenge somewhere. But you have got to admit, lots of gifts are always nice. And considering the big debuffs you can get with other traits, Adoring Fan is very manageable.
Serpent's Embrace
There are three big religious groups in Starfield, and you can choose to align with one of them: House Va’ruun, who worship the Great Serpent, Sanctum Universum, who believe in a singular God and The Enlightened, who base their religion on Karma. The latter two religions give you discounts in their designated shops, but then you get locked out of the other religious shops. House Va'ruun doesn't. Instead, it gives you an entirely different buff that is very useful early game, especially for beginners exploring the universe for the first time.
You grew up worshipping the Great Serpent. Grav jumping provides a temporary boost to health and oxygen, but health and oxygen are lowered if you don't continue jumping regularly - like an addiction.
Grav jump is the alternative to fast travelling in Starfield, and is especially useful in early game, since you can unlock the fast travelling routes through exploring with it first. Obviously, the downside of this can be huge, but is very manageable and easy to avoid.
Just be aware that, logically, you can only be part of one religious group. So, especially if you care about lore, this is no small decision, but it does boost the replayability of the game.
