Ubisoft are making an open-world Star Wars game. It could be awesome, or it could be terrible. We don't know enough yet to be able to guess which. But it's exciting all the same. Who doesn't love an open-world game? Especially in a universe with as much depth as Star Wars.

The game is still in development and far from release, but we do have some exciting news to share with you. The game should at least be revealed some time this year. So we will at least have a better understanding of what it's going to be like.

Ubisoft's Creative Director Suggests Big Reveal In 2023

In a Tweet celebrating the start of 2023, Ubisoft's Creative Director Julian Gerighty claimed that the year would be huge for the company, and added both a picture of the Star Wars logo and the hashtag "MassiveStarWars". So it's a lot more obvious than just a hint, he's basically telling us that big news is coming in 2023 regarding Ubisoft's open-world Star Wars game.

Here's the Tweet in question:

The game is currently being developed under the name "The Star Wars Project" and is being built on the Snowdrop engine. Although, we really don't know what the game will look or play like yet. But if Julian Gerighty is to be believed, we won't have to wait too long to find out.

Are you excited by a new open-world Star Wars game? Or do you prefer linear experiences in the Star Wars universe, like the upcoming sequel to Fallen Order? We're excited about a new triple-A open-world sci-fi game, because, if nothing else, it can at least provide an alternative if Starfield ends up being a massive disappointment...

Speaking of open-world RPGs currently in development...
