Sorry, PlayStation Users: You Will Never Get to Play The Elder Scrolls VI

So, Phil Spencer basically confirmed that The Elder Scrolls VI will be Xbox exclusive. Imma go cry now.

As my dear colleague and boo Amidu told me today, Sony, at this point, is just prestigious because of its name, not the games. A few months ago, I would have disagreed, but after reading the interview that Xbox chief Phil Spencer did with GQ, I’ve lost the last bit of hope I had.

Guys… The Elder Scrolls VI will most likely be Xbox exclusive. It’s over.

Don't worry, we're Millenials and Gen Z here, we won't make you read a god-knows-how-long-that-GQ-article-is article, instead, we'll go straight to the good... or in that case, bad part.

[...] exclusivity has been the elephant in the room ever since the buyout. It’s been confirmed that next year’s Starfield, arguably the biggest game of 2022, will be Xbox and PC only. Spencer says he sees the same for The Elder Scrolls VI. - GQ
It’s not about punishing any other platform, like I fundamentally believe all of the platforms can continue to grow, but in order to be on Xbox, I want us to be able to bring the full complete package of what we have. And that would be true when I think about Elder Scrolls VI. That would be true when I think about any of our franchises. - Phil Spencer

It’s hard hearing this, especially because at the roundtable event that Xbox and Bethesda had right after the acquisition of the latter, Todd Howard had made it seem like everyone will be able to play The Elder Scrolls VI. Back then, we were certain that they wouldn’t take The Elder Scrolls 6 away from PlayStation users… but hey… it’s just business, baby.

And let me be very upfront here, while we already talk about business: making The Elder Scrolls VI Xbox exclusive is probably the best business move that Microsoft could have made. At this point, is Sony really better than Microsoft when it comes to exclusives? Avowed, Halo Infinite, Starfield, now probably The Elder Scrolls (Editor's Note: Halo, Forza, Age of Empires, and not to mention Game Pass)… and all of Sony’s exclusives are slowly but surely losing their exclusivity: Ghost of Tsushima, Bloodborne

The good thing is that it’ll probably still be years before The Elder Scrolls VI releases. We haven’t even gotten a proper trailer yet, know absolutely nothing about the game, not the real title, nor the story, and the main focus for Bethesda will now be Starfield.

Until we get The Elder Scrolls VI, you might just have enough money for a great gaming PC and trust me when I say this: Skyrim had some of the best mods and if you get The Elder Scrolls VI for PC, you’ll probably be able to mod that game just as much as Skyrim. Also, consider the fact that The Elder Scrolls 6 will release on Game Pass, which is not tied to any platform and can be bought for super cheap.

Because who doesn’t want to fight against a giant Thomas the Tank Engine.
