Dedicated fans remade Zelda Ocarina of Time in Unreal Engine 5, and... I just can't...
Gamers are amazing. And so are PCs. Time and time again, computer gamers get amazing games, thanks to dedicated fans: Red Dead Redemption 2 got a bunch of new content on PC, and Zelda has been remade more times than I can count.
Now, with the release of Unreal Engine 5, modders have been given new reasons to remake gaming's greatest, and RwanLink did just that with Ocarina of Time. Feast your eyes on this:
Honestly, there isn't more to say, but I have a word-count to fill, so I'll say this: Why are we going all nuts when developers remake games, but we don't give a damn when fans do it? I understand that dedicated fans usually only remake a level or two, but I feel like there should be some middle-groud here. Of course, developers want to make money off of remakes, but they don't have the time to keep up with gamers' demands.
Yet, with game-developing tools becoming more and more accessible, gamers can literally do the impossible, and fulfill all of our remake desires. I feel like the future will hold some kind of open marketplace, where video-game assets are shared between users, and developers holding on to hefty price tags will see their games fade. Think of how classic TV lost to YouTube.
I don't know, but seeing this Ocarina of Time remake has me thinking. And you know, whatever Zelda remake Nintendo is working on, it won't even come close to looking this good.
