Death Stranding 2 might still take a while to come out, judging by a new update from Hideo Kojima.
Hideo Kojima has revealed how busy he’ll be in 2024. Good for him! That also includes the development of Death Stranding 2, the much-anticipated sequel to Kojima’s latest weirdo adventure game.
Kojima Reveals New Details For Death Stranding 2
In a lengthy new Tweet, Kojima talked about what he has planned for 2024. The main focus will be on the two games that his studio is currently working on: the recently announced horror game “OD” and “DS2”, the big sequel to Death Stranding.
DS2 seems to be pretty far ahead in development. According to the tweet, the game “has some ADR left” to do, and the team “will start recording Japanese voice overs” at some point during this year.
According to StudioBinder.com, "ADR in film is the process of re-recording audio in a more controlled and quieter setting, usually in a studio. It involves the re-recording of dialogue by the original actor after filming as a way to improve audio quality or incorporate dialogue changes."
Still, it’s hard to tell how much is exactly left to be done and when we can expect the game to launch. Kojima doesn’t reveal any more details. ADR suggests that the English voice acting is mainly done and only needs some adjustments, suggesting that the game is at least approaching the finishing line. Fans should still expect the game to be released in 2025, with late 2024 being the earliest possible time frame.
Happy New Year, 2024 is the Year of the Dragon, so I asked Yoji and RYU to design a "Ryu (dragon) Dense (LUDENS)" for us.This year will be another year of simultaneous production of "DS2" and "OD". DS2 still has some ADR left, and we will start recording Japanese voice overs. I... pic.twitter.com/CZEu00QVRC

Outside of DS2, Kojima also talks about his many projects outside of gaming. This includes the recently announced Death Stranding movie, a “collaboration with Avengers” and more YouTube and podcast projects. The man keeps certainly busy, which would explain why he has been feeling “too tired and exhausted these days”.
