The teenager who hacked Rockstar and leaked tons of material from GTA 6 has been sentenced to an indefinite hospital prison sentence.
In September 2022, the internet went bananas when dozens of clips from GTA 6 were leaked online. Now, the hacker responsible for stealing these clips from Rockstar and spreading them online has received a hefty punishment.
GTA 6 Leaker Sentenced To Life In Hospital Prison
The 18-year-old hacker called Arion Kurtaj has been sentenced to an “indefinite hospital order”, according to the BBC. This means that Kurtaj, who is autistic and had been in custody before, will remain in a “secure hospital for life unless doctors deem him no longer a danger”.
Part of why this punishment ended up being so harsh, is that Kurtaj has not just been in custody before, he literally did the Rockstar hack while being under Police protection at a hotel after having hacked Nvidia.
In his room at that hotel, Kurtaj got access to Rockstar’s internal Slack channels, apparently only “using an Amazon Firestick, his hotel TV and a mobile phone”. This led to a mental health assessment during the current trial claiming that “he is highly motivated”.
Kurtaj is part of the infamous hacker group LAPSUS$, which previously hacked Nvidia, Microsoft, BT/EE and other giant companies. One other member of the group, a 17-year-old who was allegedly part of the Rockstar hack, has been sentenced to an 18-month-long Rehabilitation Order.
