Phasmophobia's release for consoles is facing further delays due to an unexpected turn of events.
Since 2020, Phasmophobia has been capturing the hearts of horror enthusiasts, challenging PC players to a cooperative ghost hunt with wacky animations. So far, console players have been left out of the fun though. This was supposed to change in August 2023, but the Banshee and her horrifying friends are still confined to PCs.
Phasmophobia Release Dates For PS5 And Xbox Series X/S Remain Unclear
It has been a challenging year for Phasmophobia's console release. Originally scheduled for August 2023, the port of the popular indie title had to be postponed to October due to a fire at the office of developer Kinetic. Now, it has been confirmed that the release on PS5 and Xbox is facing further delays. As the devs state:
As we still try to adapt to our new remote working life after the fire incident and to establish a new office, we've encountered unforeseen challenges in adapting the game for consoles. These combined factors have affected our development timeline more than we initially anticipated.
Additionally, the preparation for the PlayStation VR2 launch requires the most attention at the moment, according to the Developer Update from October 2023. This involves reviewing and redesigning certain maps, as well as improving the overall performance of the game.
While the roadmap for 2024 focuses on the upcoming full version release of Phasmophobia, it remains unclear, when we can expect a date for the console release. However, Kinetic is determined to provide an update as soon as possible, promising the wait will be worthwhile.
