Wakestones in Dragon's Dogma 2 serve as an invaluable lifeline, granting a second chance at battle after death. They have the rare ability to resurrect important NPCs when accidentally killed. However, these coveted resources are in short supply.
Upon death of you or one of your pawns, owning a Wakestone triggers a critical choice: continue from the last checkpoint or resurrect in place, fully restored but facing the same enemy.
Wakestones In Dragon's Dogma 2: When You Should Use Them
Since taking damage reduces your maximum health in the game, Wakestones become indispensable, especially during lengthy boss fights or against tough enemies.
In addition to personal resurrection, Wakestones have a secondary function: they will resurrect deceased NPCs. You can find dead NPCs in morgues, with every capital having one morgue. This only really comes into play if you (or your pawns) accidentally kill a quest giver or if an important NPC happens to be killed by monsters.
Obtaining Wakestones requires the combination of three Wakestone Shards, which are scattered randomly throughout the game world, hidden in chests, on top of buildings, or as loot from powerful monsters and quests. Acquiring these shards can be made by using the Dragon's Eye, a rare consumable that marks the nearest shards on the map.
Given their rarity, Wakestones require careful use, typically reserved for critical story encounters or dire confrontations that require mid-battle resurrection. As such, you should treat Wakestones as precious assets to be used wisely in moments of greatest need.
