Last year, Riot revealed three skin lines they were thinking of making. Two of those three skin lines were already released in 2021, while the third, Monster Tamer, would have to wait until 2022. Finally, the skins have been revealed!
It's time to move from one 90s anime to the next with the upcoming League of Legends Monster Tamer skins. Already in 2021, we knew that Riot was working on these skins and that they would be pretty damn cute. But no one expected some of the champions Riot chose for the skin line in 2022.
The Monster Tamer skins bring back the Digimon, Pokémon and Monster Tamer vibes we miss from the 90s and early 2000s. These are the anime we grew up on, so the hopes are high for that monster-best-friend nostalgia. Did Riot succeed with these skins, though?
Which Champions Will Get Monster Tamer Skins?
Riot has revealed three champions thus far who will be on the receiving end of Monster Tamer skins. While Janna and Ezreal were shown for the Monster Tamer skins when the skin lines were teased, it seems that Riot took a different approach in the year-and-a-half since revealing some concept art.
- Monster Tamer Lulu
- Monster Tamer Veigar
- Monster Tamer Kog'Maw
Lulu with Pix makes a lot of sense for this skin line and while these might not be what fans expected, they are still pretty cute and fit the aesthetic of the skin line. Especially Veigar is a surprisingly good fit into this skin universe.
Need more anime in your life? Well, then watch some JoJo... or just play League of Legends... the choice is yours.
How Much Will the Monster Tamer Skins Cost?
These are all epic skins and will cost 1350 RP. After releasing two legendary skins throughout the Star Guardian event, and apparently working on a legendary skin for Steel Valkyries Camille, it seems that this is going to be a patch to let our wallets breathe by only including epic skins. Thanks, Riot.
When Will the Monster Tamer Skins be Released?
These skins are going to be released with LoL Patch 12.15 on August 10, 2022. So, while the next patch is going to include some more Star Guardians, you can already test out these skins on the PBE server for free to see whether you'd want to spend some RP on these skins. Though, if I'm honest, these are cute as hell, and we don't always need sexy skins, right? Right.
The Monster Tamer skins will be coming soon, so get ready. Oh, and as we are approaching August, we are also nearing the end of Season 12 of League of Legends, crazy, right? Let's hope we get our end-of-year rewards and that the 2022 League of Legends World Championship is as hyped as Riot is making it out to be.
