New LoL Item Is Too OP – Will Be Adjusted Soon

Statikk Shiv has just been re-added to League of Legends and after a month of it existing again it's become one of the best items... but for the wrong class.

League of Legends is a mess to balance, that much is certain. Add in crit items with insane AP multipliers and you've got a problem right here and there. One of the newest League of Legends problems has become such an issue as well and will be nerfed... pronto.

OP items aren't anything new, but it seems that after buffing one of the newest items on Summoner's Rift, Riot realized their mistakes and are quickly back tracking with some much-needed nerfs for Statikk Shiv.

LoL Item Statikk Shiv Is Too Strong With Mages

Statikk Shiv was re-introduced in LoL Patch 13.10. For anyone unfamiliar with the item; it's an electrically-charged dagger that enhances an attacker's basic attacks with lightning damage. It can also periodically unleash a chain lightning effect that damages multiple enemies. The item grants increased attack speed and critical strike chance.

This item was added for bot laners like Kog'Maw to use, but it has since become a pretty good pick for mage champions as well. Veigar is another champ that loves to build the item as well as LeBlanc who has felt rather weak in recent times.

During the first weekend of the 2023 LEC Summer Split, Fnatic mid laner Marek "Humanoid" Brázda built Statikk Shiv on LeBlanc and 30% of his entire damage was just from the item. Insane, eh?

That's why the Riot balance team is going to be making some updates to the item. According to former LCS caster Phreak, they're going to tone down the minion damage and change the charge generation.

Whether these changes will be added in LoL Patch 13.13 is unclear still. These adjustments will be added very soon though, with Statikk Shiv becoming a key item in the pro-scene as well... when teams aren't getting fined for buying it.
