Genshin Impact: Despite Protest And Controversy, Xianyun And Nahida Banners Rake In Fat Dough

Xianyun and Nahida are the two featured characters on the current Genshin Impact banner. Despite the community calling for a protest, it seems that this hasn't worked, with the banner making over $20 million in the first week alone.

Nahida is probably one of the best support characters in all of Genshin Impact. Xianyun is also a character Genshin Impact players have come to learn about throughout their time playing the game, so that this was going to be a high grossing banner was pretty obvious.

There had been some uncertainty going into the Lantern Rite, though, especially with the Chinese community protesting and calling out HoYoverse for their treatment of Genshin players in comparison to Honkai Star Rail players. Well, it seems that it was just a small and loud minority on social media, since the Nahida and Xianyun banner still raked in fat cash.

GenshinLab has just revealed the first week revenue of the newest banner and while it isn't the highest grossing banner to date, it has landed in the top 10. According to GenshinLab, Xianyun and Nahida managed to rake in just over $20 million, putting it in the number 10 spot of all-time revenue within the first week.

The kicker? These numbers are only for Chinese iOS users, which means that HoYoverse raked in even more money if you take international players, PC players and PlayStation players into account.

The top spot in terms of revenue still belongs to Hu Tao's second rerun alongside Yelan's first rerun from Version 3.4, which managed a total of over $27 million.

Going into this banner, there was a lot of controversy surrounding Genshin Impact, with content creators fighting a civil war, as well as players calling out HoYoverse and their "preferential treatment" of Honkai Star Rail players. Because of this, a lot of players wondered whether HoYoverse would rake in such high profit this time around.

Clearly, it seems like a huge majority of players were just loud on social media and most ignored the drama and enjoyed the game and characters.
