Before the release of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, console players can now dive into the original trilogy.
Usually, it's the other way around: many big games are initially released exclusively for a console and later receive a PC port, as was the case with Ghost of Tsushima for example. This may be because console exclusivity for big titles is more lucrative than PC exclusivity would be.
However, occasionally, games or entire series are exclusively available on the computer and only appear on consoles years later. And that's the case with the popular Stalker series.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. The Legends of the Zone Is Now Available On Consoles
With the upcoming release of S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2: Heart of Chornobyl , interest in the survival shooter is rising not only among PC players, as this title will also be available on the Xbox Series X/S as well.
Console players can finally delve into the original trilogy as well. Since March 6, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. The Legends of the Zone is available in the PlayStation and Xbox stores for $39.99. This bundle includes all three previous Stalker titles: Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky, and Call of Pripyat.
Zakhar Bocharov, PR spokesperson for the dev studio GSC Game World, spoke up about the process of bringing hardcore PC titles to consoles at the Xbox Partner Preview.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. has been a PC franchise for a long time, so the key priorities were concentrated around adapting the experience for consoles as a whole (including, but not limited to, native controller support for console interfaces). We created everything from scratch, ensuring that the game was both easy to control and comfortable to play.
That's also one of the reasons why complex PC-oriented games don't often make their way to consoles. It requires painstaking implementation of new mechanics that don't exist in the original version, such as a weapon selection wheel and more.
All the more exciting it is when popular PC classics do make it to consoles from time to time.
