It seems like everyone in the world is excited for Grand Theft Auto 6 to finally arrive in 2025. That release window was revealed with the game’s first trailer and considering how far away that is, it seemed like a pretty safe bet.

However, a new report claims that thinks are not going perfectly well at Rockstar Games, the creators behind the series. The development of GTA 6 has apparently been “falling behind”, according to a new report from Kotaku and delaying the game is not off the table.

GTA 6 Might Not Make It In 2025 After All

There has been some obviously trouble at Rockstar recently. The company rescinded remote work almost completely and mandated workers to come back into offices, sparking a ton of issues and dissatisfaction among workers. This was apparently done as higher ups believe it will improve the quality of work as the game is in the “last stage of development”, but employees fear a return to Rockstar’s infamous past of relentless crunch and high pressure.

The game is internally still aiming to be released in early 2025, as has been rumored before. However, believe in making that happen has started to crumble. Anonymous sources say that a delay to Fall 2025 at least seems likely at this stage. Apparently that’s not all though, as a “emergency option” of pushing the game as far back as 2026 is currently being discussed as well.

Rockstar’s titles are among the most impressive and biggest games in the world. They all take a ton of time and effort to realize, so it would not be surprising if GTA 6 does end up getting delayed. After all, every major Rockstar game experienced at least one delay before release.

Even if that happens, it looks like Rockstar is under a lot of pressure right now and finishing the development of this mammoth of a game will be anything but a walk in the park.
