25 years after the first Harry Potter book released, we finally know how popular the Hogwarts houses really are.
On February 10, the popular role-playing game set in the Harry Potter universe celebrated its first birthday. For a year now, you've been able to experience adventure after adventure as a student in Hogwarts Legacy. What shouldn't be missing in that, is the feeling of belonging to your chosen house. Now we finally know which Hogwarts house has the largest following – and which has the smallest.
Hogwarts Legacy Developers Share Statistics Of All Players
On its first birthday, the developers of Hogwarts Legacy released some interesting statistics revealing impressive numbers. For instance, a total of 740 million hours were played, with 51 million hours spent on brooms.

One specific question has been on our minds for longer than Hogwarts Legacy has existed: Which is the best house? While the Sorting Hat in the original Harry Potter books assigns houses to the aspiring wizards, in Hogwarts Legacy, players have the opportunity to choose for themselves.
With the new statistics, it's finally clear which is the best house. Or at least the one most players have picked. However, the first place is less surprising than the last one.
While Slytherin and Gryffindor engage in a neck-and-neck race for first place, Ravenclaw lands at the very bottom of the popularity scale with a dismal 17%. As a proud Hufflepuff myself, I welcome this, but I actually didn't expect to have so many housemates.
Hogwarts Legacy definitely cleaned up last year, not just in terms of in-game numbers. By the end of 2023, the game had sold a total of 22 million copies, making it the best-selling game of 2023. So, Hogwarts must be pretty crowded by now. But it's a wizarding school, so there should be room for everyone.
