The recently canceled Star Wars shooter by Respawn sounds better the more we hear about it.
Recently, first details about the long-rumored Star Wars singleplayer shooter by Respawn (Apex Legends, Titanfall) leaked online. Since then, publisher EA has decided to cancel the game.
That we’ll never get to play this is a real shame. The game sounded really promising. You were supposed to play as a Mandalorian (not the one from the show) and go on bounty hunts, with gameplay being fast-paced and focused on various movement options with gadgets like a jetpack, the ability to slide and more.
Canceled Star Wars Game: What The Respawn Mandalorian Shooter Would Have Looked Like
A new report by Insider Gaming reveals even more details about the game. The focus would be on you taking on different bounties and traveling to several planets from your base of operations called The Den.
Here you would upgrade your gear and select your loadout before choosing a destination on a galaxy map. While the report doesn’t talk about this specifically, it suggests that different loadouts could have led to a cool level of variability in how you approach missions.
As was revealed before, the shooter was not supposed to be open world and would have instead focused on a more linear experience. However, some levels were supposed to be more open and would have allowed for exploration and for players to hunt secrets.
This, plus the high level of mobility, sound like an exciting combination. Letting the people behind Apex and Titanfall make a Star Wars shooter sounds like a better idea the more we hear about it. It’s a real tragedy that we will never get to actually play that.
