According to the latest rumors, Assassin's Creed Jade could be delayed for another year.
Delays at Ubisoft are nothing new by now. Just think of Skull and Bones. There's probably not a single game that has been delayed so many times. Now it looks like another franchise by the developer has been affected: Assassin's Creed.
The delay is not about the next big main game of the series, but about Assassin's Creed Jade, a mobile spin-off of the series.
Assassin's Creed Jade Most Likely Delayed
According to a report by Reuters, Assassin's Creed Jade may have been delayed to 2025. Developer Tencent has reportedly pulled hundreds of employees from Assassin's Creed Jade to work on DreamStar.
The mobile spin-off of the Assassin's Creed series, set as an action-adventure in China, has been in development for at least four years. Originally, the release was planned for 2024, but now due to the reallocation of resources, it is likely to happen only in 2025.
First gameplay of Assassin's Creed Jade was leaked in 2023, and some players were even able to test the game in the first beta phase.
However, Tencent has apparently realized that small party games, which rely on simple gameplay, can be more profitable than complex mobile adaptations of big game franchises.
Let's just hope that the delay to 2025 sticks and that the Skull and Bones disaster doesn't repeat itself.
