The Skull & Bones release is just around the corner. Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft's CEO, has some high hopes for the game, but could they be a little bit too high?
Skull & Bones is going to be releasing soon, but a large part of the gaming community is not convinced by this upcoming live service pirate game just yet. The game looks interesting and could be really fun, but with development taking way too long, players have lost hope in the game.
Ubisoft's CEO, Yves Guillemot, is convinced this game is going to be huge though, even calling it a "quadrouple-A" game.
Ubisoft CEO Defends Skull & Bone Price
Skull & Bones, is going to cost $70 upon release. This can potentially keep the game from growing right upon release, with most live service games going for the free to play model these days, with in-game purchases and cosmetics as the main point of monetization.
Guillemot has defended this price tag, though, believing that Skull & Bones is going to be the next big hit among live service games. The price tag of $70 is because of the scale of the game and the vast amount of content.
You will see that Skull and Bones is a fully-fledged game. It’s a very big game, and we feel that people will really see how vast and complete that game is. It’s a really full, triple… quadruple-A game, that will deliver in the long run.
Now this doesn't have us, nor the gaming community convinced. Especially the part about calling it a quadruple-A game... is odd. There has been a lot of controversy surrounding the game, which was supposed to be released back in 2018.
The open Beta for Skull & Bones kicked off on February 7, and is going to run until February 11, when the game will release. Progress from the Beta will cross over after release for any players.
While the game might surprise some people, a lot of players do think that the Ubisoft CEO has his head in the clouds right now, telling himself that Skull & Bones is going to be the game of 2024... but after spending years and billions of dollars on the game, it seems more like wishful thinking at this point, eh?
