It has been known for a few months that Microsoft is working on re-launching its next-gen Xbox. But now the first images of the alleged console have been leaked.
In the fall of 2023, internal Microsoft documents surfaced that indicated plans to relaunch the Xbox Series S and Series X in 2024. The revamped Series X, in particular, attracted attention as it was rumored to eliminate the disc drive while offering benefits such as a larger internal SSD and lower power consumption.
Digital Edition Of Xbox Series X: Leak Reveals First Images
Allegedly, the first images of this new Xbox Series X have now leaked via exputer, showing both the front and back of the console. Although the quality of the images is a bit poor, they show that the Xbox Series X lacks a front disk drive and is now white instead of black. This redesign could potentially reduce confusion with the older version.
Interestingly, the original design outlined in internal documents back in fall was very different: black and round, with a USB-C port on the front, which seems to have been replaced by a classic USB-A port in the leaked images.
According to internal documents, the console's internal storage will double to 2TB, Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6E are expected, standby power consumption will be significantly reduced, and a new controller will accompany the console. However, no other changes under the hood can be seen from the images, except for the lack of a disk drive.
