Rumors have it that Sony is adapting another game: this time, it's a supposed Bloodborne movie. A known leaker claims the dark and gritty Fantasy world by popular developer FromSoftware is coming to the big screen.
Video game adaptations can be really good, as HBO's The Last of Us has proven (can't wait for season two). Sadly, Sony doesn't exactly have the best track record when it comes to movies, even when they're based on good games (we don't talk about Uncharted anymore), so anticipation is generally rather... low.
Sony trying to redeem their bad reputation could still be a thing to look forward to, especially with lore-heavy source material to choose from and explore in its own movie. Cue: Bloodborne! Dark and gritty atmosphere, loads of action and an unforgettable, deep story full of cosmic and gothic horror.
The perfect candidate for a film, then. And that's apparently what Sony is thinking as well, as they are seemingly working on making a Bloodborne movie.
Leaker Says Sony Is Turning Bloodborne Into A Movie
In the leaker community, Daniel Richtman is pretty well known. His predictions have both been proven correct and false, so take this into consideration when it comes to the Bloodborne movie he's recently revealed.
According to him, the Bloodborne adaptation is – obviously – made by Sony, will be produced by Lorenzo Di Bonaventura (who was partially responsible for Transformers) and written by Darren Lemke (known for his work on Shazam! and Shrek Forever After). The logline he shared left some details left to be desired, though:
Sony project based on the PlayStation game of the same name. Bloodborne follows the player's character, a Hunter, through the decrepit Gothic, Victorian-era-inspired city of Yharnam, whose inhabitants are afflicted with a blood-borne disease which transforms the residents, called Yharnamites, into horrific beasts. Attempting to find the source of the plague, the player's character unravels the city's mysteries while fighting beasts and cosmic beings.
This is really just the genereal scenario description of the game, so it doesn't get more generic than that. Take the "leak" with a grain of salt then. But I have to admit that the FromSoftware lore is always top notch, so those games could make for a really good base for an adaptation... in theory.
It's been quite some time too, as Bloodborne came out in 2015. So it seems a bit unrealistic to think that Sony is just going to revive Bloodborne out of the blue. A while back, another leaker claimed a Dark Souls anime was coming to Netflix, and so far, nothing came of that, either. Maybe don't get your hopes up just yet.
If there is to come more of that, though, rest assured that you'll hear it from us!
