An open-ended finale can't be left like that, can it? Of course not. The Old Man has been renewed by FX and here's everything you need to know about season 2, including the possible release window, the cast and any other news you could possibly need.
The Old Man (based on the book The Old Man by Thomas Perry) will get a second season – which was, to be honest, kind of to be expected by the end of the last episode. With an open end like that, another season was bound to happen.
Even though especially the second half of the first season disappointed some fans, there's room for improvement in the new season to find its way back to the gripping storytelling of the first episodes. Here's everything you need to know about The Old Man's second season!
The Old Man Season 2 | Release Info
There is no official release date for The Old Man's second season yet, but considering that the Hollywood strike that delayed many productions came to an end in late September 2023, chances are the show will start filming again soon.
Filming for the first season took longer than expected due to lead actor Jeff Bridges' health issues and the pandemic, so it's hard to tell how long season 2 will take to shoot if everything goes according to plan for once (knock on wood!).
Still, speaking from experience, there's hope for a release in 2024.
The Old Man Season 2 | Returning Cast
It's to be expected most of the cast will return in season 2. Obviously, Dan Chase will be portrayed by Jeff Bridges again with Bill Heck as his younger counterpart. Fantastic John Lithgow reprises his role as Harold Harper as well.
Alia Shawkat returns as Angela Adams as well as Amy Brenneman as Zoe McDonald. Especially the latter isn't exactly a fan favorite character as many people complained about the relationship between her and Chase.
Still, there's much room for development there – could be a big part of the upcoming new season. Couldn't hurt to explore her character more!
The Old Man wouldn't be The Old Man without Dave and Carol. Those are actually played by five dogs called Creed, Cain, Freya, Finnelly and stunt-dog Daisy. Some of them have a rather sad past, so it's even better they found their calling in pretending to bite people's faces off. Such good boys and girls!
As soon as there's any more hard facts about The Old Man season 2 to report, you can be sure you'll hear about that from us!
