In Warzone 1 quick-scope snipers were the hard meta. Everyone was playing the Kar98k or the Swiss K31, because they were extremely mobile, had ridiculously fast ADS-speed and could one-hit-down every enemy.

In Warzone 2 the devs decided that one-shot snipers were too powerful and shouldn't be a thing anymore. However, having really heavy and slow snipers that can't even down an enemy with one single headshot, is kind of frustrating and made sniper rifles completely useless.

The community were positive about the change at first, but then everyone got bored without sniping, and so in Season 3 the devs made the following change.

One-Shot Snipers Back in Warzone 2

With Warzone 2 Season 3 the devs decided to reintroduce one-hit-down snipers to Warzone again.

After testing in our Saint Patrick’s Day Event, we are adding One-Hit-Down Snipers to create added variety in combat playstyles. Bolt-action snipers equipped with Explosive Ammunition will be able to down enemies with one head shot. The MCPR-300 has also had Explosive Ammunition added to its progression.

So, the heaviest snipers in the game will now be able to down enemies with a headshot, provided they have Explosive Ammunition attached. Will it be enough to help this dying game come back to life? That's an argument for a different day. But let's have a look at what snipers are able to one-hit-down a fully plated enemy in Warzone 2 Season 3.

These Snipers Can One-Shot Kill In Warzone 2

The MCPR-300, Victus XMR, and the FJX Imperium are capable of downing triple-plated enemies with a headshot, if they have Explosive Ammunition attached. These are therefore the "meta" snipers, and the only ones we advise using.

To equip Explosive Ammunition just go into the gunsmith when adding attachments to your sniper, and select Explosive Ammunition for the Ammunition slot (but you will need to unlock Explosive Ammunition for each of the weapons first).

Are you annoyed to see snipers back in Warzone? Or are you glad to have them in time for Ranked?
