Having to pilot a mech in Armored Core 6 is no easy feat. Constantly having to maintain good mobility, health and armor, as well as managing a fitting arsenal of top-notch weapons can prove hard to keep up with.

But, in order to make sure your AC meets up to your standards, you can use Operation System Tuning, or OS Tuning. This new upgrade system is really neat and allows for further upgrades for your mech, if you have the right amount of OST Chips on you. Find out here where to get OST Chips and what upgrades you can get here!

Getting your hands on OST Chips is quite easy. OST Chips can be obtained by completing Arena missions. You can unlock the Armored Core 6 Arena once you've completed a few missions in Chapter 1.

Those of you that are familiar with the Armored Core series will quickly recognize this aspect of Armored Core games. Arena missions are 1v1 fights that become increasingly harder with each mission you complete. Of course, players will be rewarded for their efforts, and in this case the rewards are OST Chips.

Armored Core 6: Best OS Tuning Upgrades

If you're wondering what the best OS Tuning upgrades in AC6 are, you're in luck! Here are all the upgrade categories and our picks for the best ones per category:

System Unlock

Boost KickThis unlocks your Boost Kick ability. Your Boost Kick ability does quite some damage, since you throw the entire weight of your AC at your opponent, which can help you put your enemies in strain faster and gives you the chance to attack them from up close.
Weapon Bay

By upgrading your Weapon Bay you unlock the ability to add weapons to your shoulders as well, which allows you to equip four hand weapons at once.

You can't use your shoulder weapons directly, but you can switch them out with the weapons your hands are holding to ensure a quick switch.

Weight ControlWith this, you can sortie even when your mech is overburdened. The Weight Control update lets you purge any of your current weapons, in order to lower your weight and increase your movement speed.
Manual AimingIf you're looking for a challenge, then upgrade your AC to manual aiming. This allows you to manually control your reticle, which can be great if you have good aim.
Quick TurnUnlocking the Quick Turn feature lets you turn your mech with one click towards any direction you want it to face.

The System Unlocks depend on your play style. Many AC6 players swear on the Weapon Bay, but I personally always preferred having standard back weapons with me. The Quick Turn is nice, but the Boost Kick is mandatory. This attack does an insane amount of impact damage and comes in clutch in basically every fight.

Core Expansions

Assault ArmorThe Assault Armor Core Expansion lets you equip Assault Armor. This will create a spherical explosion around you which can cancel out enemy attacks on you and also deal damage to anyone in your radius for a short amount of time.
Pulse ProtectionJust like before, this allows you to equip Pulse Protection. It will create a spherical barrier around you in a specific area, which will fend off all attacks from opponents for a short while.
Pulse ArmorUnlocks the ability to equip Pulse Armor. This armor is similar to Pulse Protection, but instead of staying in one place, this barrier will follow you around. The downside is that it has fewer charges than Pulse Protection.
Terminal Armor

Lets you equip Terminal Armor. If you take fatal damage while this is equiped, your AP will be filled and you will be given a temporary Pulse Barrier.

The Core Expansions are all a bit lackluster, but Assault Armor is not bad. The blast not only shields you from attacks, it can also do some nice damage.

Attack Control

Kinetic Weapons – Fire Control TuningThis upgrade optimizes the fire control of your AC and adds up to 15% damage to kinetic weapons.
Explosive Weapons – Fuse Control Tuning

Enhances the fuze control of your AC and adds up to 15% damage to explosive weapons.

Energy Weapons – Output Control TuningOptimizes the power output of your mech and can add up to 15% damage to energy weapons.
Melee Weapons – Drive Control TuningWill not only add up to 15% damage to melee weapons, but also improves your AC's drive control.
Direct Hit Modifier – Damage TuningHelps to improve the accuracy of your attacks against staggered enemies and increases the damage against them by up to 15%.
Access Speed – OptimizationOptimize your hacking and override functions speed by either 50% or 100%.

This really depends on your preferred weapons. I always run around with Kinetic weapons, so I put some OST Chips into that. Direct Hit Modifier is very useful if you're focusing on staggering enemies, which you absolutely should.

Damage Control

ACS – Dynamic Deflection Control Tuning

Enhances the bracing posture of your AC to reduce damage taken by enemies by up to 15%.

Repair Kits – Optimization

Improves the healing capabilities of your Repair Kits.

Both of these are very nice, as AC6 is a tough game and both taking less damage and healing more are useful things to counteract that. I personally focused on improving the healing, but ended up getting upgrades for both abilities.
