Oh boy, this is not looking good at all for Ubisoft. The gaming giant is apparently going through a tough time and this is now showing in some negative consequences for the publisher's slate of upcoming games. Ubisoft has once again delayed the troubled Skull & Bones and completely canned three unannounced games.

Skull & Bones Delayed, More Games Canceled By Ubisoft

The multiplayer pirate bonanza Skull & Bones , which was originally supposed to launch in Autumn 2018, has been delayed once again. The sixth (!) delay sees the game pushed back to the 2024 fiscal year, which begins in April.

A concrete release date hasn't been given, but according to Ubisoft, the game is supposed to launch "early" within that period. I'll believe it when I see it...

This is not every bit of negative news that everyone's favorite Canadian games company revealed in a statement meant for investors. Ubisoft has also "decided to cancel three unannounced projects, on top of the four already announced in July 2022". Big yikes! What's going on at Ubi?

According to their messaging, "the Company is facing major challenges as the industry continues to shift towards mega-brands and long-lasting titles than can reach players across the globe, across platforms and business models". What this means in non-business-speak: they ain't got that Fortnite money.

Ubisoft has desperately tried to surge onto the free-to-play, games-as-a-service market, with very little success. The publisher has yet to see big success with games like HyperScape, Roller Champions and those dozen or so Ghost Recon games. Remember XDefiant? Me neither.

Difficult times are ahead for Ubisoft, and the statement has clear notes of desperation sounding through it. Let's wait and see how things continue to develop for the company in the near future, it will be interesting to watch for sure. And hey... at least we have Assassin's Creed Mirage to look forward to, eh?
