After a few months of intense and fantastic multiplayer, a fabulous campaign, and issues with the Halo Infinite Battle Pass, we've finally landed in March. What's next for Halo Infinite? After multiple stages of the Tenrai Event, and the Cyber Showdown event, and we're waiting for Season 2 to blow us away in a few months time. What about now, though? What about this precise moment in Halo Infinite's history? What's going on? Well, we've got some news on that.

A new event, titled "Tactical Ops" has been revealed, and is now live in Halo Infinite. It was originally confirmed by numerous Twitter leaks and seems to feature a particularly fantastic new Tactical Slayer Playlist. Oh, and there are some pretty sweet rewards, so you'll also want to jump into it for those. What else? Well, you're reading this article so we better fulfil those promises and deliver the information you're craving...

Whilst Halo Infinite's various cosmetic items can be quite frustrating (seriously, who thought that having separate shoulder pads for each arm was a good idea?), they certainly look fabulous. In fact, the new Armor Set featured in the Tactical Ops event is possibly the best event-specific cosmetic to come with an event so far. I mean, you all have to admit that the Samurai Armor from the Tenrai Event was pretty abysmal!

What Is Halo Infinite's Tactical Ops Event?

Tactical Ops is the latest Event in Halo Infinite's Multiplayer, bringing a selection of Tactical Game Modes to a brand new playlist, as well as a vast assortment of unlockable cosmetic items. Not much is changing in the game, but the new "Tactical Ops" Playlist will add much-needed variation over the standard game modes that we all love, but are also growing rather sick of. Here's what 343 Industries had to say about the Event in their official press release:

Many of you are well on your way to (or have finished) outfitting your Yoroi samurai core. You’ve been remembering Reach through the Season 1 Battle Pass; you answered the call when Winter Contingency was declared over the holidays and carried your team to victory during the synthwave Cyber Showdown... But now, the time has come to listen to a man considered so wise that the Spartans named a whole academy after him... "Get Tactical, Marines!"

Here's a quick summary of what you can expect from the Event...

  • Five different Tactical Slayer Game Modes in a brand-new Playlist.
  • At least Ten Ranks of Tactical Ops Cosmetics.
  • The brand-new Mark V ZETA helmet and Mark VII core.

What is the New Tactical Slayer Game Mode & Playlist?

Tactical Slayer is a classic Halo Multiplayer Game Mode that equips you with a Battle Rifle, no Radar, no Shields, and no Grenades. This is a great game mode that, as the name suggests, urges you to be more "Tactical" than most. Here's what 343 Industries have to say about it:

Many of you know the drill by now, but for all you greenhorns out there, listen up! We’re hot droppin’ you into an event where your speed and precision are the key to victory. You’ll be experiencing some classic Tactical Slayer gameplay (BRs, no radar, no shields, no grenades), but we’ve got a few extra surprise mode variants to mix things up a bit.

The Tactical Ops Playlist will come with various variations on the former. This might include a selection of different weapons, or perhaps some other unique modifiers that will apply.

What Are The New Tactical Ops Slayer Game Modes?

There are five new Tactical Ops Slayer Variations coming in the brand new Tactical Slayer Playlist. They are as follows:

  • Tactical Slayer – Standard
  • Tactical Slayer – Commandos
  • Tactical Slayer – Sidekicks
  • Tactical Slayer – Stalker Rifles
  • Tactical Slayer – Manglers

The Tactical Ops Slayer Playlist will change over the two-week Event. In the first week you will be able to play the standard Battle Rifle variant as well as the Mangler and Sidekick variants. In week two, though, Commando and Stalker Rifles are being added to the playlist.

What Are The Tactical Ops Rewards?

In addition to the new game modes, we are getting ten different cosmetic items unlockable throughout the event itself. These will be unlocked by completing Event Challenges, and are represented in the table below.

When is the Halo Infinite Tactical Ops Event?

The Tactical Ops Event will begin on March 8 and conclude on March 22, 2022. That's only two weeks, so you're going to want to get in quick if you're keen on the various cosmetic additions that have been plopped in here. We think that this is a pretty solid little event, but we also think that it is going to take more than just Weekly Challenges, Events like this and an Item Shop to keep Halo Infinite alive... here's why...
