Players who want to enjoy the upcoming Overwatch 2 PvE Events have to spend some extra cash to get access.
Every fan of the Overwatch-Franchise has been waiting for a long time to finally see some news about the PvE mode in Overwatch 2. The PvE experience was the unique selling point of the new Overwatch game, which was released in October last year.
Unfortunately, Blizzard canceled the PvE story mode players were eagerly awaiting. They promised another type of PvE experience though, which has now been detailed.
The Overwatch Season 6 Invasion event will feature some PvE missions. Potentially exciting, but it seems to be the case, that spending additional money to get access to the PvE Missions is required. A fact, that the already upset Overwatch community might not take that well.

Overwatch 2 PvE Missions Locked Behind A Paywall?
Sadly, this seems to be the case, as Blizzard stated in a blog post that the Invasion season will launch with the additional Overwatch 2: Invasion Bundle and the Overwatch 2: Ultimate Invasion Bundle. The bundles grant players "permanent access" to the Overwatch 2 Invasion missions.
So for all players, who won't buy the bundles, there's no access at all to the story missions. You are required to spend at least 15 Dollars to play the PvE Mode. This is a decision that might drive away further parts of the Overwatch 2 community and player base.
The Overwatch 2: Invasion Bundle costs $15 USD and contains:
- Permanent access to the Overwatch 2: Invasion Story Missions
- 1,000 Overwatch Coins (equal to the Premium Battle Pass, $10 USD value)
- A brand-new Sojourn Legendary skin ($19 USD value)
- Permanent access to Sojourn as a playable hero for new players: unlocked upon completing Story Mission challenges
The Overwatch 2: Ultimate Invasion Bundle costs $40 USD and contains all the rewards above and furthermore:
- The Null Sector Premium Battle Pass with 20 Battle Pass skips ($30 USD value)
- An additional 1,000 Overwatch Coins, for a total of 2,000 Overwatch Coins ($20 USD value)
- Two additional Legendary skins for Cassidy and Kiriko ($38 USD value).
It will be interesting to see, how the Overwatch community will deal with this situation. But one thing is for sure, Blizzard is losing more and more support from the community, who don't want Overwatch to be just another cash cow. Let's just hope that there will be a way for players to access the PvE Missions for free, at least for a limited time.
