Respawn Entertainment is currently busy with getting Star Wars Jedi: Survivor over the finish line. But they are already cooking up something else for the legendary franchise over there. A while ago, it was announced that the Apex Legends developer is working on a bunch of Star Wars games, including a single player focused FPS. We now know, that this one is set to take inspiration from one of the most beloved series of Star Wars games.

Respawn's Upcoming FPS Inspired By Jedi Knight

Respawn has recently posted new job listings for the untitled Star Wars FPS, looking for a Cinematic Lead, a Lead Mission Designer and a bunch of more jobs. Outside of showing, that this game is still very early in development, the job description is revealing some interesting first details about the game.

This includes the facts, that the game will be developed in Unreal Engine 5, and that it seems to take inspiration from Jedi Knight Dark Forces, an absolute classic.

“Inspired by classic titles like Dark Forces and Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2, our story-driven single-player game is being developed from the ground up leveraging the power of Unreal Engine 5.“

For those who are too young for this: Dark Forces and its sequel came out in 1995 and 1997 respectively and they were amazing at the time. They were early FPS games, with a strong focus on storytelling and exploration. Which also kinda sounds like Respawn will try to take some of their learnings from Fallen Order and apply it to their upcoming shooter.

I’m definitely super excited for this game; with Respawns pedigree, this inspiration and UE5, nothing can go wrong. Hopefully…
