Immortals Fenyx Rising Sequel Canceled
Immortals Fenyx Rising is a good game. It's an adventure full of action and beautiful designed landscapes, and has a charming Zelda: Breath of the Wild touch. First announced at E3 in 2019 the game was released in December 2022 after quite some changes and wasn't the overwhelming success Ubisoft had hoped for, but by many it was received as the first part of a refreshing new franchise.
We first heard about a sequel years ago. But in January Ubisoft announced a plan to "refocus" on the biggest brands – Assassin's Creed, Far Cry and various Tom Clancy shooters. And in June Ubisoft leadership formally canceled the sequel to Immortals Fenyx Rising.
Considering that Ubisoft is working on eleven Assassin's Creed games and on top of that on Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, a new Prince of Persia, Star Wars: Outlaws and the free-to-play game Tom Clancy's The Division Resurgence, it seems quite obvious why they don't think of Immortals Fenyx Rising as a priority. Maybe they will return to the sequel at some point, but as the developer of Immortals Fenyx Rising is Ubisoft Quebec which is currently busy with Assassin's Creed: Red, they probably won't return to Immortals Fenyx Rising before Assassin's Creed Red is released.
