Over the weekend G2 Esprots CEO Carlos "Ocelote" Rodríguez Santiago posted a video of a party on Twitter. Little did he know what kind shit storm was about to be triggered by this one tweet. What landed the famous esports CEO in hot water though, not only with fans, but LEC casters and other G2 Esports personalities?

In the initial tweet, the internet's most hated personality was clearly seen. G2 Ocelote partying with none other than Andrew Tate – and we're not going to go into who he is since we think everyone is aware. When the video went viral, Twitter blew up, calling Ocelote out and the CEO's response wasn't the greatest either. Let's quickly recap.

Ocelote Won't Let Others "Police His Friendships"

The tweet regarding the partying blew up on League of Legends Twitter. Not only did Ocelote double down on the tweet, he also made a statement regarding the initial backlash he received stating that he would "not let anyone police his friendships" and that he "parties with whoever the f*ck he wants". Did this go over well? Not at all.

This only prompted more angry tweets, more backlash and the community speaking out on the double standard of the CEO. LEC caster Aaron "Medic" Chamberlain even went as far as to say that Carlos is merely using this as a way to gain attention and that Ocelote had to be aware of the backlash he would get for posting a video with Andrew Tate in it.

Even members of the G2 org have called out Ocelote, the ADC of the newly formed G2 Esports Hel, the all-women's League of Legends team G2 signed not too long ago also expressed her disappointment, but she went on to say that G2 is much more than just their CEO.

G2 Esports Suspends Ocelote

Due to the huge backlash from the community, G2 Esports PR had to step in to try and salvage the situation, but the damage by the CEO has already been done. G2 tweeted out a statement stating that the org has failed its fans and that the org has built a safe and inclusive environment within esports.

Since our creation we have worked hard to build a safe and inclusive environment to enjoy Esports. These are just small steps in the right direction we need to take as a company. We'll continue to do our best each and every day to improve ourselves and the indsutry at large.

The latter statement clearly indicates that there is still a long way to go when it comes to inclusivity in esports. Further on in the statement it is revealed that G2 have suspended Carlos for the next 8-weeks without pay. We'll still likely see him at Worlds 2022 though, right?

Carlos also released a second statement in stark contrast to his first, explaining that he has let down the G2 community and has caused much confusion regarding his own stance on inclusivity.

Many G2 fans were let down this weekend which created confusion about what I stand for. It has always been my consistent target to stand for absolute equality of opportunity regardless of who you are or where you come from, which is what gaming is all about.

Many fans did not buy his excuse since initially the G2 CEO still had the tweet in which he states that he "parties with whoever he wants" still pinned. He has since pinned the G2 Esports statement, but many still feel that this second statement is insincere and merely a PR ploy.
