With all LEC rosters confirmed, we take a look at what we can expect from 2022
10. Astralis: There is little here that would impress us. Matti "WhiteKnight" Sormunen, Nikolay "Zanzarah" Akatov and Hampus "promisq" Abrahamsson remain from the 2021 roster that missed playoffs twice. Oliver "Dajor" Ryppa was an okay player on Fnatic Rising, but that is an ERL team and now he’s in the LEC. Kasper "Kobbe" Kobberup, meanwhile, is a reliable ADC, but he needs someone to carry hard early, and there doesn’t seem anyone here who we can expect to do this. | © Аstralis
9. SK Gaming: SK have had a lot of ups and downs last season, but mostly downs. That said, Erberk "Gilius" Demir has recently done quite well rallying the teams around him from the jungle, while Erik "Treatz" Wessén returning to support looks good as well. Daniel "Sertuss" Gamani was one of the strongest mid lakers in the LFL, but he’s playing on a much different team and we'd hold off on endorsing him just yet. We expect SK to get some flashy wins, but not make playoffs.| © SK Gaming
8. Team BDS: BDS is one of the big unknowns here, a newcomer team built around new, young players who have made their name in the regional leagues. Still, as we saw with Adam "Adam" Maanane, some of these players can do something on the big stage. One big question we have is whether after his success with G2, Fabian "GrabbZ" Lohmann can perform as well with lower-tier players. This will be a big chance for many of these players, but for now we’re not so keen on them yet.| © Team BDS
7. Еxcel Esports: A team that is legendary for just coming short of playoffs is coming into 2022 with a mostly unchanged roster, except for bringing former Rogue and CLG top laner Finn "Finn" Wiestål. Erlend "nukeduck" Våtevik Holm remains a capable mid laner, who showed solid performances and brings plenty of experience. In a season with a lot of unknowns, Excel is a safe bet for 6-7th place. Still, we’re going to give another team the nod over them for the last playoff spot| © Riot Gaming
6. Misfits Gaming: This is a volatile team, but on the whole we’d place them around the border of making playoffs. Shin "HiRit" Tae-min and Vincent "Vetheo" Berrié were the core of a team that went to playoffs and went to five games against Fnatic, which is what makes us hopeful about the team. Their replacements are players who have been around the LEC and the top layer of the regional scene. Replacing Kobbe and Oskar "Vander" Bogdan might be difficult, but we think Misfits could clinch the tail end of the playoff spots. | © Misfits Gaming
5.Rogue: There’s a big unknown here, and it’s called Kim "Malrang" Geun-seong. If the Korean jungler is able to gel well with Рogue, the team can easily make playoffs, possibly top four. The mid and top lanes are unchanged and should still be solid. In the bot lane, Adrian "Trymbi" Trybus had a hard time even with Steven "Hans Sama" Liv, and we don't expect Rogue's bot lane to look as good this year. Still, iIf the jungle-mid synergy is lacking, they have a good chance of not making playoffs.| © Riot Games
4. Mad Lions: The 2021 sensation MAD Lions might have a hard time defending their LEC title next year. They should still be strong - Javier "Elyoya" Prades Batalla, İrfan Berk "Armut" Tükek and Norman "Kaiser" Kaiser looked amazing in 2021, and they remain at the core of this team. However, we don’t expect the new members to be quite up to snuff yet. The overall level of the team mightnot be enough to see MAD take another title unless Steven "Reeker" Chen and William "UNF0RGIVEN" Nieminen turn out to be amazing.| © Riot Games
3. G2 Esports: The long-term kings of the LEC had a difficult time in 2021 and have shed several of their iconic superstars, rebuilding the team around Marcin "Jankos" Jankowski and Rasmus "caPs" Winther. While the two veterans are some of the best players ever to represent the LEC and we have some trust in Sergen "Broken Blade" Celik holding the top lane, G2’s bot lane is a big unknown. Considering the rosters that Fnatic and Vitality are building, it’s hard to put them any higher.| © Riot Games
2. Team Vitality: After several years of staying around the middle of the table, Vitality has found the money for a star-studded roster that could well be one of the strongest the LEC has seen. Luka "Perkz" Perković and Barney "Alphari" Morris return from NA and likely have something to prove, while Selfmade is itching for another strong season. Their bot lane is the relative weak link, but we would still put it as one of the stronger ones in Europe. The team is stocked with talent, but could they hold together? Perkz is a proven leader, so we’re leaning towards a “yes.” | © Riot Games
1. Fnatic: After they recovered from their summer slump, Fnatic monstered through the playoffs, only falling to MAD Lions. The changes they made make us think they could be a powerhouse in 2022 as well. The team kept the bot lane and attracted several proven players - Marek "Humanoid" Brázda from MAD Lions, Iván "Razork" Martín Díaz from Misfits Gaming and Martin "Wunder" Hansen from G2. Overall, this gives Fnatic a decent base from last year and a very solid power level. Combined with an organization that exceeded our expectations in 2021, we think Fnatic is the team to watch for next year| © Riot Games
The LEC teams have confirmed their rosters and after another year of stars going to the LCS, new players are coming in from the regional leagues. With BDS replacing FC Schalke 04 Esports, the LEC has more new names in a while. What can we expect from the reshuffled rosters?
