It has become a running gag by now, that we all are waiting for a Bloodborne Remake. Released exclusively for the PS4 in 2015, the FromSoft RPG captured the hearts of many Souls fans. The Gothic horror style mixed with challenging gameplay and distinctive level design managed to impress in all aspects.

The only drawback: the game runs at 30 FPS. Even the PS5 patch never happened, leaving Bloodborne still stuck with this low frame rate. Fans have always agreed: this needs to change. Finally, none other than Hidetaka Miyazaki himself, the head of FromSoftware, is giving us new hope.

FromSoft Boss Miyazaki Hints At Future Plans For A Bloodborne Remake

In an interview with Eurogamer, Miyazaki was asked about the long-awaited Bloodborne Remake. We almost couldn't believe it ourselves, but the FromSoft boss actually dropped an interesting piece of news.

I think having new hardware is definitely a part of what gives these remakes value. Things you weren't able to achieve on previous generations of hardware, ways you weren't able to render specific expressions - [new hardware] sometimes makes it possible. [...] I think purely from a user perspective, modern hardware also allows more players to appreciate all the games. And so, it ends up being a simple reason, but as a fellow player, I think that accessibility is important. I think that can be the driving force between bringing an old game to a new platform.

Miyazaki expressed enthusiasm about the fact that the Bloodborne fanbase is still so passionate after nearly 10 years. Just like the fans, the FromSoft team also regards the game as a title they "hold very dear."

Considering that the Demon's Souls Remake also skipped 2 console generations after the original, Miyazaki's statement makes sense. The first Soulslike game was released in 2009 on the PS3 and received a full remake in 2020, which became a launch title for the PS5.

However, Miyazaki did not reveal specific hardware details about what exactly they are waiting for. With the impending release of the PS5 Pro, the Bloodborne Remake could come sooner than expected. However, these are only speculations.

Overall, the interview with Miyazaki leaves us feeling relieved. Rumors about an upcoming Bloodborne Remake or even a PC port have surfaced repeatedly in recent years, and fans have wondered what the actual holdup was. Finally getting a somewhat concrete statement from the head of FromSoft himself is a small glimmer of hope.

With the Bloodborne Remake still up in the air, you can, however, look forward to another FromSoft gem. The open-world Soulslike Elden Ring will soon receive a DLC. Shadow of the Erdtree is set to be released on June 20, definitely reaching you earlier than a potential Bloodborne Remake.
