The download size of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth was revealed, and for some of us it might take longer to download the game than to play through it.
During the last State of Play, another State of Play dedicated entirely to Final Fantasy VII Rebirth was announced. This showcase is set to provide more insights into the long-awaited second part of the Remake Trilogy on February 6. What we already know is how much space you'll need for the release on February 29 on your PS5. And that's not insignificant.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Needs A Lot Of Space
We've gradually become accustomed to this with AAA games. With ever-improving graphics and performance, there comes a downside, and that's the download sizes of these games. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is no exception.
The download size of the game will be a whopping 150GB. It's so much that the retail version of the remake comes with 2 game discs, as Director Naoki Hamaguchi already mentioned last year in an interview with Game Informer. Hamaguchi also explained why the studio didn't try to cut the game's content to fit on one disc.
Square had always envisioned Rebirth as a massive, highly detailed world more immersive than Remake’s revamped Midgar. Thus, squeezing it on a single Blu-ray would have forced the designers to scale back on content and ideas, so doubling up on discs became the obvious solution.
If your dream of diving into an extensive gaming session on February 29 is fading away because you have an internet connection made of bamboo, we have good news for you.
