For anyone of us who grew up by playing Kingdom Hearts as children, being able to see the story in the form of a movie or TV series sounds like a dream.

But what if I told you that this dream could soon become reality? Well, recent rumors suggest that Square Enix might already be working on a TV show for Kingdom Hearts on Disney+.

Kingdom Hearts TV Adaptation Rumours Are Back

The first time rumors about a TV adaptation of Kingdom Hearts appeared was in 2020. Back then, multiple reports claimed that Square Enix themselves is working on an animated series for Disney+, which they had already begun casting for.

Unfortunately, because no one ever mentioned it anymore since 2020, everyone thought that the idea was scrapped.

But now, Daniel Richtman, a reporter focused on TV & movie related leaks, has shared info on this alleged Square Enix project on his Patreon, claiming that the project is still in the works. He also shared that it is still unknown whether this is going to be a TV series, like the original rumour suggested, or a movie.

It could be that Square Enix and Disney have changed their plans and decided to produce a film adaptation instead of a TV series. However, the recent trend in video game projects has been towards a multi-episode format.

It's hard to say whether we can trust this latest rumour or not, as Daniel Richtman has a reputation for being right about some things and totally wrong about others. But since this rumour has been circulating for almost four years, it's worth keeping an eye out for further clues.
