With Persona 3: Reload, a remake for the current PlayStation and Xbox generations as well as PC, is being released 17 years after the original launched exclusively on PS2. Fans quickly wondered if the JRPG would also come to the Switch. After Atlus itself made ambiguous statements about it, a well-known insider has commented on the matter, revealing that the title is apparently set to release on Nintendo's next console.

Persona 3: Reload And Its Future With Nintendo

One thing we know for sure: Persona 3: Reload will not be released on the Switch when it launches on February 2, 2024. The director of the remake, Takuya Yamaguchi, stated in an interview with Atomi that a Switch version of the game was not initially planned at the beginning of development. However, the possibility is currently being discussed with the team.

Of course the idea is there, but it's a matter of discussing it with the team and seeing what they think about it and we'll see what happens.

Now... that's certainly not the answer we were all hoping for. So we close the Nintendo Store again and put our Switches back into their docking stations, as we may not need them anytime soon to play the new Persona.

Don't want to wait longer than you have to?

If you want to enjoy Persona 3: Reload right at launch day on February 2nd, you'll need to grab the game on Xbox Game Pass or get a copy for PlayStation or PC .

We were all in mourning mode when suddenly, a familiar Twitter user emerged from the depths to save us. User @MbKKssTBhz5 (they initially leaked P3: Reload even before Atlus did themselves) posted that the reason for the lack of a Switch version is that the game is set to release on the next Nintendo console. And not just that! The new IP from Atlus/Sega, Metaphor: ReFantazio, will also be coming to the next console generation.

When Nintendo's next console, colloquially known as the Switch 2, will release is still unclear. The console is set to come out at some point in 2024, but Nintendo hasn't shared or confirmed any details yet.

The New RPG By The Persona Devs

Metaphor: ReFantazio? Have you already forgotten what that's all about? Don't worry, I'll quickly summarize it for you.

Metaphor: ReFantazio is a new RPG from Atlus, announced back in December 2016. Since then it has been worked on by former Persona developers. The game is set in a classic medieval European fantasy world that serves as a mirror to our own. Well, if that's not something. It's planned for release in the fall of 2024.
