While fans of Deadpool might worry about having to do homework on the MCU ahead of the new movie this summer. Director Shawn Levy has revealed that this won't be needed.
Deadpool is joining the MCU with the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine film. This had some fans concerned, since the MCU has become a huge universe where to understand one film, fans have to have watched multiple television series and movies ahead of time.
But, Deadpool & Wolverine director, Shawn Levy, has revealed that this won't be the case for his movie and that even noobs to the MCU will be able to grasp what is happening.
Deadpool & Wolverine Safe For MCU Beginners
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is huge. Throughout the last decade, movies and shows have released that all explain something in the universe and if you miss one of the films then you're lost moving into the next one. This has become a bit much for some fans.
In the most recent Deadpool & Wolverine trailer, fans got a glimpse of Alioth, a creature fans know from the Disney+ series Loki. This had some concerned that they would have to binge two seasons of Loki, as well as other movies, before going to the theaters in July.
Well, Shawn Levy has explained that this won't be the case.
I very much made this film with certainly a healthy respect and gratitude towards the rabid fan base that has peak fluency in the mythology and lore of these characters and this world. But I didn’t want to presume that. This movie is built for entertainment, with no obligation to come prepared with prior research.
With Deadpool able to break the fourth wall canonically, he could easily explain some of the most complex MCU-specific happening right to the audience. Of course, this is just speculation, but something which would also fit the Deadpool vibe.
