LoL Patch 13.12: Support Ashe Killed Due To Item Adjustments

The patch notes for LoL 13.12 had some interesting little tidbits left out. One of them was that the interaction between Font of Life and Echoes of Helia has been removed.

So it seems that Riot is not going to allow players to enjoy Ashe as a support for much longer. In LoL Patch 13.12, Riot wanted to buff her support and bot lane builds, but it seems that instead they've completely removed her from the support champion pool with these adjustments.

Riot announced a key changed, that initially hadn't been part of the LoL Patch 13.12 Notes at all. They've now added these changes so players don't build the wrong items on Ashe – or even Swain – for the coming months.

LoL Patch 13.12 Makes Huge Changes To Font of Life & Echoes of Helia

Font of Life is a rune in the Resolve path which basically marks enemies that were either slowed or immobilized. Allied champions that use basic attacks against marked enemies heal for a max health percentage. Add in the newest League of Legends support item, Echoes of Helia, which procs off healing and you've got an insane combination.

Now pair this interaction with a champion like Ashe who is able to slow multiple opponents thanks to her W - Volley and you've got a pretty nice combo, right? Not to mention that Riot decided to buff her support build by giving her ultimate more AP scaling.

The support Ashe players were hyped for these changes and well... that excitement didn't really last, with Riot quickly pushing out a Tweet in which it was stated that the interaction between the rune and item have been disabled.

PSA: In patch 13.12 we've disabled the interaction between Echoes of Helia and Font of Life. Moving forward, Font of Life will no longer proc Echoes of Helia.

This wasn't even part of the patch notes, Riot just decided to add this very important tidbit into a tweet. Since this got a lot of people quite upset, they've since added the information to the patch notes, along with a W bugfix for our friendly jungler Ivern.

  • [REMOVED] Font of Life Interaction: Removed the interaction between Echoes of Helia and Font of Life. Moving forward, Font of Life will no longer proc Echoes of Helia.
  • If Helia Procs and Noone’s Around to Hear It…: Fixed a bug that was causing Echoes of Helia to activate when no enemies were nearby. This would heal allies while not consuming any stacks.

This does mean though that support Ashe is going to be a lot weaker than it was before and players might have to think of new ways to make Ashe support work.
